From JFK airport

Public Transit

Simplicity: Moderate

1. From the airport, take the  JFK AirTrain to Jamaica Station
2. At Jamaica Station, take a Manhattan/World Trade Center bound  train and get off at West 4th St Washington Square
3. Walk from West 4th St Washington Square to NYU (5 minutes)

OR

1. From the airport, take the  JFK AirTrain to Howard Beach Station
2. At Jamaica Station, take a Manhattan/Inwood 207th St bound  train and get off at West 4th St Washington Square
3. Walk from West 4th St Washington Square to NYU (5 minutes)

Shuttle

Simplicity: Moderate

1. At Ground Transportation (next to baggage claim), buy a ticket for the NYC Airporter bus to Bryant Park
   • A bus leaves every 30 minutes between the hours of 5:00am and 11:30pm
   • Tickets cost $17 one way.
2. At the 42nd st – Bryant Park station, take a Downtown  or  train and get off at West 4th St Washington Square
3. Walk from West 4th St Washington Square to NYU (5 minutes)

Taxi

Simplicity: Easy

Get a taxi at a marked taxi stand outside of baggage claim. Do not take a ride from anyone that approaches you offering a taxi. It is standard to give a 15-20% tip.

From Laguardia airport

Simplicity: Tricky

1. From the airport, take the  Limited or Bus and get off at Roosevelt Avenue/74th Street
2. At Jackson Hts/Roosevelt Av Station, take any one of:
   • a Manhattan/World Trade Center bound  train and get off at West 4th St Washington Square
   • a Manhattan/Kings Hwy bound train and get off at West 4th St Washington Square
   • a Manhattan/Bay Ridge bound  train and get off at 8th St NYU
3. Walk to NYU (5 minutes)

Shuttle

1. From the airport, take the  Newark AirTrain to Newark Liberty Airport Station
2. At Newark Liberty Airport Station, take a  New Jersey Transit train 3 stops to New York Penn Station
   • Purchase a train ticket from the New Jersey Transit machines at Newark Liberty Airport Station.
   • There is also a Newark Penn station – don’t get off there!
3. At Penn Station, take a Downtown , , or  train and get off at West 4th St Washington Square
4. Walk from West 4th St Washington Square to NYU (5 minutes)

   • A bus leaves every 30 minutes between the hours of 6:45am and 11:15pm
   • Tickets cost $16 one way.
2. At the 42nd st – Bryant Park station, take a Downtown  or  train and get off at West 4th St Washington Square
3. Walk from West 4th St Washington Square to NYU (5 minutes)

Taxi

Simplicity: Easy

Get a taxi at a marked taxi stand outside of baggage claim. Do not take a ride from anyone that approaches you offering a taxi. It is standard to give a 15-20% tip. Note that New Jersey taxis add fees for using a credit card (+$5.50), for each bridge/tunnel toll, and sometimes charge a flat base fare for certain locations in Manhattan (often $75).
