Diversity and Inclusion

Statement in Solidarity with Black Lives Matter

The Center for the Study of Human Origins resolutely supports the global call to action in response to countless recent and past incidents of murder, violence against, and abuse of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). We acknowledge the historically significant ways in which our disciplines have contributed to and reinforced racialized systems.  We recognize that those systems remain in place and that we all have a responsibility to dismantle them. CSHO is committed to confronting racism and racial inequalities within our academic community and beyond. We aim to listen, reflect on, and engage with these issues in our teaching, mentoring, research, and public engagement and to enact change.

Over the coming months, in partnership with our community, we will develop paths forward and document those specific plans here.

We acknowledge, support, and stand with the call to action that educational institutions and cognate professional organizations have adopted as a mandate going forward in addressing racism and issues of diversity, inclusion, and equity.
