The Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics, a collaborative, multilingual and interdisciplinary network of institutions, artists, scholars and activists throughout the Americas came to Buenos Aires last June for an academic experience that included meeting with local organizations to broaden perspectives on topics related to the Institute’s work: religion, society and politics.
This two-day workshop and symposium, held at the Argentine National Congress and NYU Buenos Aires Academic Center, was an initiative of the Hemispheric Institute on religion and politics in the Americas, funded by the Henry Luce Foundation. Some of the most respected academic personalities in United Stated and Canada, such as Ann Pellegrini and Lois Lorentzen, and important organizations including American Civil Liberties Union, CDD-Argentina participated in the event.
Their symposium at NYU Buenos Aires “Religión en la esfera pública–Ley, derechos y la lucha por el cuerpo” gathered members from different organizations to discuss subjects, such as religion, social mobilization, abortion and strategic litigation.
