NYU Florence and NYU Washington, D.C. students study the EU in Brussels

NYU Florence and NYU Washington D.C. students met in Brussels October 24-27 to visit the EU institutions and to meet with policy experts. Students participated in a role play at the EU´s Parliamentarium, met with experts on the two policy focus areas they are studying this semester – food and immigration – and toured the EU´s Brussels headquarters. They kicked off their visit with a role play exercise at the European Parliamentarium. Students were divided into 4 political ‘groups’ representing 4 of the main political parties in the EU to learn how political negotiations work in the European parliament looking at two case studies on water solidarity and microchip implants. Here students are briefed before they begin the role play by a representative of the parliamentarian:
