To commemorate 20 years of NYU in Florence, NYU Florence, La Pietra Dialogues, and The Humanities Initiative are sponsoring a conference on 9 – 10 October entitled “La Pietra and and NYU Celebrating 20 Years: Sir Harold’s Vision Realized.” The conference will bring together scholars from both sides of the Atlantic to contemplate the humanities. Participants will consider how to translate “humanities” into Italian or into contexts outside of the university. They will also discuss the “human” in humanities as it relates to issues of education, public policy and human rights.
