Handwriting Intervention Primer

As occupational therapists we are experts at analyzing the minutia of occupations. We also understand that individuals have varied abilities and dynamic aspirations often based on specific contexts. When a child’s handwriting is considered impaired, we dive in and try to figure out why: where is the interruption between desire to write and ability to perform? The Handwriting Intervention Primer is intended to guide occupational therapy practitioners with identifying specific handwriting impairments based on characteristic manifestations and provide evidence-informed strategies to improve handwriting acquisition.
