Digitizing the History of New York City
During the 2018 DH+Data Day, Dana Arwas, an Industry Assistant Professor of Integrated Digital Media at NYU Tandon, delivered a presentation about the “City Record Historical Project.” The City Record is the official periodical of the city of New York, published every weekday, except for legal holidays, since June 24, 1873 and detailing the day-to-day business of running, governing, and administering one of the most complex cities in the world.

Verify Your Wi-Fi Security Certificate for 2019
When you access the NYU Roam Wireless network at the beginning of each new calendar year, you will be presented with an alert asking you to validate a security certificate before connecting. When you see the prompt, simply “Accept” the renewed certificate and connect as usual.
New Electronic Data and System Risk Classification Policy
In response to the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), NYU IT has replaced two of its data-centric policies (Data Classification Table and Reference for Data and System Classification) with a new Electronic Data and System Risk Classification Policy.
Rain, Sleet, or Snow
In February of 2018, 3D scanning and printing experts at NYU’s LaGuardia Studio arrived at NYU Langone Health to scan the face of William Fisher. The Studio was tasked with creating a highly-detailed, lifelike mask to replace the face he was donating to another. This is the story of the 34 hours Studio staff spent as part of this procedure.

Overleaf is a collaborative, online LaTeX and Rich Text editor designed to make the process of writing, editing, and producing research papers and project reports much quicker for you and your collaborators. Overleaf Professional accounts are now available to all NYU community members.
The New NYU Email Look Is Here
NYU Email’s redesigned web interface — which was first offered on an opt-in basis in July 2018 — is now becoming mandatory for all users. The core functions remain the same; the new look simply adds a few options and renames or relocates others.

The NYU Holodeck is a cutting-edge shared virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) environment currently in development that will “create an immersive, collaborative, virtual/ physical research environment providing unparalleled tools for research collaborations, intellectual exploration, and creative output.”
