Present Progressive Tense for Social Media Posts

Lesson Objectives: By the end of this lesson students will:
- recognize, form and use the present continuous tense correctly in travel updates and social media posts.
- understand the meaning and identify specific contexts when it is appropriate to use the present continuous.
- create real-life-like travel updates and social media posts.
Performance Assessment:
- Students create a social media post मेरी यात्रा using present continuous to describe their current travel experiences.
- Students peer-review and provide feedback on each other’s posts based on specific questions.
- Teacher assessment: Evaluate students’ use of present continuous and their creativity in their social media posts based on rubrics.
Learning Episode 1: Introduction (10 minutes). The teacher:
- introduces present continuous tense and its usage.
- discusses the context of social media and travel updates.
- shows examples of travel updates and social media posts using present continuous.
Learning Episode 2: Grammar Practice (10 minutes). The students:
- selectively read several examples to identify and induce the forms of the present continuous tense with the help of the teacher.
Example: “मैं दिल्ली के हौज़ खास में घूम रहा हूँ.”: focus on verb forms: verb stem घूम + auxiliary verbs रहा हूँ .
Learning Episode 3: Contextual grammar practice: In pairs the students:
- fill out 3+ verbs in the infinitive form and 1 st person singular and plural progressive form in a google table:

Learning Episode 3: Social Media Post Creation (40 minutes). In small groups, students:
- decide what specific location they are at on the Indian map (students covered a travel unit previously)
- create a social media post using present continuous and select appropriate images.
Learning Episode 4: Peer Review and Feedback (10 minutes). In a Gallery Walk format students:
- share their posts.
- peer-review and provide constructive feedback based on “1+ thing I like” and “1+ thing I suggest”.
Learning Episode 5: Conclusion (5 minutes). The teacher:
- review key takeaways.
- discuss error patterns and areas for improvement.
