  •  use infinitives + मना  है + वर्जित है + नुक्सान पहुंचाना
  • use subjunctive following ताकि: जाए, हटाए
  • use passives in the subjunctive: सुधार किया जाए, पाबंदी हटाई जाए 

C. Performance Assessment: Students are asked to help an environment protection NGO. They develop a brochure and a presentation for Earth Day Fair on their campus.

D. Learning Scenarios:

Activity 1. Warm-up:

  • The teacher has 4 questions on separate slips in a bag/hat that one student from each group picks with common vocabulary list.

Groups work on one questions: Brainstorm what you know about the question you picked from the bag. Groups take notes on the main points. They consult the vocab list above.

Activity 2. Competitions: Teacher counts to 1,2,3 and shows signs. Student in groups are asked to point, as fast as they can, to the one/s not related to the topic. Teacher draws attention on subjunctives and passives.

Activity 3. Reading: Each group works on a different text (handouts).

a) Skim and come up with a title.

b) Circle 5 new words which are crucial to understanding the text.

c) Read and answer the questions .

Activity 4. Jigsaw exercise:

  • Each student calls a number in the group (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.).
  • New groups are formed of students with same numbers.
  • Students share the main points of their text.

Activity 5. Students explore more resources to prepare their brochure and a presentation for the Earth Day Fair. The main points include:water
