Patrica Sabarwal is a dedicated Hindi language educator with over ten years of experience teaching Hindi. Her instructional skills have been honed by delivering a superior experience to students at elementary, intermediate and advanced levels of learning Hindi. As the Head of the Hindi Program and the Coordinator of the Critical Languages Consortium at the University of Kansas (KU), she advocated for Less Commonly Taught Languages (LCTLs) and worked on increasing their visibility in general and Hindi in particular at KU. Supervising student preparation for the Annual National Hindi Debate at Yale University and leading her students to top prizes every year brought recognition to her Hindi Program at the institutional level. Serving on the Executive Board of National Council of Less Commonly Taught Languages (NCOLCTL), the leading national association of a broad and diverse group of world language educators, she was able to represent Hindi nationally. She has served in other leadership roles to bring Hindi to the forefront by participating in a number of language pedagogy conferences such as American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), NCOLCTL, California Language Teachers Association (CLTA) conferences and multilingual training workshops, such as Stanford Leadership workshop, CLTA Hindi Pract-in, and NYU multilingual workshops.
Being a self-motivated and progress-driven person, she is always looking for initiatives and innovative ways and integrating them in her teaching to make her classes more interesting and fun. She believes in creating a learner-centered classroom focusing on the students and their interests. “Adding fun to learning creates the best educational experiences” is the philosophy that she diligently integrates in her teaching. She respects the diversity of students in her classes and strives to ensure that all of them have equal access to all the resources and opportunities. She is currently teaching Hindi to all age groups across the United States and abroad.
