Performance Tasks (YHS Fulbright-Hays 2022)
I. Dream house: Novice High: Your mother’s or your employer is transferring your family to Jaipur. As a perk, the company has offered your family the opportunity to design your new home. Your mother asks (or you ask) each of the family members to help with the design by sketching the ideal floor plan, label the rooms and what is needed in the new home. Make sure you include the:
- necessary rooms for the house like the kitchen, living room, bedroom (you are limited to no more than 3 bedrooms),
- inner yard
- basic furniture items in each space and what their location will be
- colors scheme for each room
Because you are designing for a Hindi-speaking architect, the rooms must be labeled in Hindi.
Assessment Rubric:
3 — Exceeds Expectations: Sketched, labeled and provided some furniture information and location for about 8 or more rooms correctly (no more than 3 rooms are designated as bedrooms)
2 — Meets Expectations: Sketched, labeled and included some information about furniture and colors for 5-7 rooms correctly (no more than 3 rooms are designated as bedrooms)
1 — Approaches Expectation: Sketched and labeled 3-4 rooms correctly with 2-3 items in each(no more than 3 rooms are designated as bedrooms)
0 — Does Not Meet Expectations: Sketched and labeled 0-2 rooms correctly (no more than 3 rooms are designated as bedrooms)
II. Airbnb: Novice High level:
- Role: You are AirBB host.
- Audience: Potential Customers
- Format: Make a video presentation for your Airbnb page
- Topic: What your offer in your house/room including furniture items, toiletries and appliances
- Special Language: List at least 10-15 items and describe what they are and where they are. Use at least 3 sentences with x aapke liye moujuud hai.

Intermediate level:
- Role: You are AirBB host.
- Audience: Potential Customers
- Format: Make a video presentation of the rooms you rent out to customers for your Airbnb
- Topic: What your rooms offer including function of space, furniture items and appliances
- Special Language: Use at least 3 relative-correlative sentences (jo … vah, jab … tab, etc.) and 3 sentences in the subjunctive mood
