Entry conditions and language: Students are familiar with present tense, basic vocabulary (simple verbs, descriptive adjectives, etc.), asking and answering questions, and simple postpositions.
Targets: Students can:
- ask and answer simple questions related to animals
- identify basic facts related to a safari trip phrases when they are supported by gestures or visuals
- use basic postpositions and simple verbs
Describe task and student instructions:
Part 1: Introduce forest/animal/safari vocabulary and pronunciation. Introduce or review relevant phrases.
Part 2: Safari presentation with photos/audio and corresponding questions posed for students to answer (examples: X कैसे दिखता है (color, size)? किस की आवाज़ है? X कहाँ रहता है? X क्या खता है?). Challenge: Sets of photos can be added so that students can lead question/answer sessions. Language level can also be increased by including animal comparisons.
Exit conditions: Students must actively participate in safari activity by responding in full sentences and as an individual assignment write a few sentences about the life of their favorite animal on the safari.
