Green things to do in NYC in January

Whether you’re staying on campus for January term or visiting for the weekend, there are plenty of green ways to spend your time in NYC.

Brooklyn Flea gathers some of NYC’s finest artists and clothing collectors to sell sustainable products. If you have last minute holiday shopping or just want to treat yourself for the new year, Brooklyn Flea is a NYC favorite.

Wave Hill

If you want a break from the hectic holiday crowds in Manhattan, take a train uptown to the Bronx where you can visit the former 19th century manor, now a cultural and ecological center. Visit after January 2 to watch New York-area artists create pieces inspired by the gardens.

The Butterfly Conservatory at The American Museum of Natural History

A popular winter tradition at the Museum of Natural History is the Butterfly Conservatory, otherwise known as the room full of hundreds of butterflies. Anyone with an interest in nature and these beautiful creatures should check out this exhibit before it flies away.

  1. That’s very informative. It’s great that more and more cities around the world offer green initiatives for their inhabitants. If you move to London in the UK you will be amazed at how many different green activities there are.
