patrick egan photoWelcome! I’m a political scientist who studies Americans’ political attitudes and behavior, and their consequences for public policy, partisanship, and identity. I’m a professor in NYU’s Wilf Family Department of Politics, with an associated faculty appointment at NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service and an affiliated appointment in NYU’s Department of Sociology. I regularly teach courses on U.S. politics, public opinion, and quantitative analysis at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

I am also the director of the just-launched NYU Berkley Institute for Civil Discourse & Civic Solutions, which is bringing leaders, scholars and students together across political divides to engage in good-faith dialogue to address our most pressing civic challenges.

Check out my research, teaching,  and recent writing and media appearances on politics, public affairs, and political science.
