Welcome! I’m a political scientist who studies the interaction of public opinion and institutions in American politics. I’m an associate professor in NYU’s Wilf Family Department of Politics, with an associated faculty appointment at NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service. Before entering academia, I served as an assistant deputy mayor of policy and planning in the office of Philadelphia Mayor Edward Rendell.

  • My current research in progress can be found here.
  • I’m currently serving as the NYU Politics Department’s Director of Undergraduate Studies.
  • I’m on Twitter: @Patrick_J_Egan
  • And I amuse myself by making charts and maps about politics and policy, here.
