LaGuardia Studio’s Andrew Buckland discusses the 3D printing process with Dr. Rodriguez and Leslie Bernstein, Chief Administrator for the Face Transplant Program at NYU Langone Health, on 20/20.

The November 18, 2018 episode of ABC News’ 20/20, titled “Brave New Face,” highlighted LaGuardia Studio’s contributions to a face transplant performed in January of 2018 by Eduardo D. Rodriguez, MD, DDS, chair of NYU Langone Health’s Hansjӧrg Wyss Department of Plastic Surgery and director of its Face Transplant Program. Staff at the Studio scanned and printed a detailed, lifelike mask for a man whose face was being donated to a recipient in need.

You can read more about the successful transplant, as well as watch the 20/20 episode (split across six parts) on the ABC News website.

The process of scanning and printing the mask, as well as the history of face transplant procedures, was detailed in a March 2018 Connect article, “From LaGuardia Studio to NYU Langone Health.”
