If you have a personal Gmail account, you may have noticed that Google recently introduced a redesigned look. Beginning in July 2018, this new look will be rolled out to the NYU Email web interface as well.
Initially, adoption of the new look will be on an opt-in basis; when you log in, you will see an alert box asking if you want to switch to the new look. You will be able to switch to the new look as well as switch back to the classic view during this period. However, beginning in September, use of the redesigned interface will be mandatory. Please note: this change only affects the NYU Email web interface; if you access your email through the Gmail app on a mobile device, there will not be a change.
While the core functions of NYU Email will remain the same, the new look adds some options and renames or relocates others. A few of the key changes include:
- Labs, which were experimental features in Email, are now fully supported features in the new interface. They can be found under the Advanced tab in Settings.
- Snooze and Nudges keep you focused and remind you to respond.
- A new sidebar on the right of the window enables you to use Google products, such as Gmail and Calendar, side by side.
