Virtual Urdu is created to support the teaching of Urdu at NYU and the  growing demand for materials and resources among the Urdu teaching community .

Special thanks to Professor Tahira Naqvi, Urdu Senior Lecturer, who has not only built the Urdu program at NYU, but also she has created a real community on campus and among the community in the tri-state area around the Urdu language and culture. Prof. Naqvi has always openly shared her expertise and insight with students and colleagues.

Special thanks to Romeena Kureishy, who is a member of the STARTALK@NYU team. She has recruited and trained many Urdu teachers to the Urdu network and has contributed numerous lesson plans and materials to the website.

Also, special thanks to Nusrat Sushail, who is a member of the STARTALK@NYU team. She was instrumental in the establishment of the Alliance for the Promotion of Urdu Studies (APUS),  the expansion of the Urdu network and in contributing with numerous resources.
