|Yannis Theocharis is Senior Research Fellow at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES). He holds a PhD in Political Science from UCL (2011) and was Humboldt Research Fellow at the MZES (2011-2013). His research interests are in political behavior and communication, comparative politics and social capital.
His latest work has been focusing on the study of the effects of social media on political participation, collective action organisation and social capital using longitudinal, experimental and digital trace data, while he has also been investigating the effects of the European debt crisis on social capital and civil society. He is currently co-director of the “Social Media Networks and the Relationships Between Citizens and Politics” project, as well as co-director of the “European Election Study: Social Media Component”.
