SYNOPSIS: Anatomy of an American Dream observes two years in the struggle of former college basketball star and U.S. Air Force Captain Antoine Hood as he pursues his lifelong dream of playing in the NBA against long-shot odds. The film examines the clash between a culture of blind faith and the realities of modern-day America, where a charismatic athlete who works hard and never gives up can still fall short. An exploration of the delicate union of ambition with religious faith, Anatomy of an American Dream observes the cyclical journey on the way to success in which dreams are never abandoned, but reborn.

John Ryan Johnson (JRJ) is an Award-Winning Commercial Director and Filmmaker. JRJ’s commercial work has received international acclaim from Porsche, Ciclope, and W3. He was nominated for New Director of the Year at the 2016 shots Awards and won Best Test Commercial in North America at the Young Director Award in Cannes in 2015. Commercial clients include McDonald’s, American Express, Bombas, and Storyhunter. JRJ is an Alumni of the Grad Film program at NYU.
