FILM SUPPORT & FINANCING SLATE
JUMP TO: SUPPORTED PROJECTS | SLATE ADVISORS | FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Each year, the NYU Production Lab selects promising, diverse, top-quality feature films in development from emerging artists in the NYU community to add to our Slate. Inclusion in the Slate opens filmmakers to financing opportunities as well as mentorship and tailored development, marketing, and distribution support for their projects.
We have supported over thirty-two projects with the program to date, which have premiered at film festivals such as Sundance, Tribeca, and Cannes, and reached audiences on Netflix, Amazon, iTunes, and other platforms. Notable projects include Dead Pigs, written and directed by Cathy Yan (Birds of Prey); Songs My Brothers Taught Me from Chloe Zhao, who won critical acclaim for Nomadland, winner of six Academy Awards; and Laurel Parmet’s Starling Girl, which premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival and was theatrically released in the U.S.
