SYNOPSIS: Devin, 31, unemployed, apathetic,  is thrust into the role of caregiver for his two teenage cousins, Tasha and Kenny, when his mother—their guardian—passes away from a stroke. When the Chicago Housing Authority evicts all of the residents of Devin’s public housing development apartment to redevelop, Devin is forced to find a new home for himself and his cousins.

WRITTEN AND DIRECTED by Jarreau Carrillo (Tisch Grad Film ’15)

Jarreau is a writer, director, and actor hailing from Seattle, Washington. Jarreau received a BA in Political Philosophy from Morehouse College and a MFA in Directing from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Jarreau’s most recent work is a nine episode web series entitled, “Somewhere in the Meantime” and is available on Youtube.  His thesis short film, “Strange Planet” was funded by the Spike Lee Production Fund at NYU, won the Martin E. Segal Award from Lincoln Center. When not writing and directing, Jarreau loves performing improv comedy across the country. He’s been performing for over 10 years. Currently, he’s a member of the house team at The Magnet Theater in Chelsea, Manhattan. His latest on-screen work can be seen in the 2015 SXSW Grand Jury Prize film, “Fort Tilden” by Charles Rogers and Sarah-Violet Bliss.

Founders Julius Pryor (L) and Marttise Hill (R) Julius and Marttise are award-winning filmmakers leading Pryor Hill Productions, a full-service media production company creating compelling content by underrepresented filmmakers. They are 2016 Sundance Institute Creative Producing Fellows.  They’ve produced two features that world premiered at the Sundance Film Festival: Tahir Jetter’s romantic comedy, How to Tell You’re a Douchebag, and Michael Larnell’s debut, Cronies, executive produced by Spike Lee. They executive produced Kevin Wilson’s 2018 Academy Award-nominated short film, My Nephew Emmett. Their latest short, “Feathers”, by A.V. Rockwell, was funded by The Tribeca: Through Her Lens program and world premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. They have worked with established talent including Will Smith, Shaquille O’Neal, DeWanda Wise, and William Jackson Harper. For the 2020 U.S. election cycle, they helped Daniels with “More Questions. More Answers.” for Facebook.

Julius and Marttise received their Bachelor’s in English Literature from Morehouse College and their MFA in Film Production from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Julius and Marttise have taught courses on creative producing, production management, screenwriting, and directing. Recently, they were featured on “BBC World News Talking Movies” as emerging producers of ethnically diverse content for film, television, and digital platforms.
