Thank you for your interest in NYU Linguistics and the Phonetics and Experimental Phonology Lab. At NYU, we do not accept candidates to work with particular faculty members. Instead, the whole faculty works together to decide which students to offer admission to. Thus, we will be offering admission to new students with interests across the various fields that our faculty address, but students decide who they will work with after they have already begun the program. This means that you should not contact me in advance to ask if I will be accepting new students. If you are interested in phonetics and phonology at NYU, your best course of action is to simply submit your application to GSAS by the deadline. We read all applications with the same care and consideration, and we do not schedule Zoom/Skype calls in advance of the application period in order to keep the playing field as level as possible for all of our applicants.
In assessing whether my research interests are a good fit for yours, there are two things to know. If you wish to work on intonation, NYU is not the best program to serve your interests. Moreover, I am currently not actively supervising ultrasound research or other articulatory methods such as EMMA or EPG.
