Shatima Jones’ exhibition at the Gallatin Galleries is a reconstruction of the spaces that have shaped her research, teaching, and identity.  Divided into four areas, the exhibit will pay homage to the streets of Brooklyn where she grew up, the Black beauty salon via her imagined enterprise Shatima’s Shop, her research site The Headmasters Barbershop, and a classroom to commemorate ten years of teaching her signature course (De)Tangling the Business of Black Women’s Hair.
