New Site Guides Researchers Through the Many Resources Offered by NYU IT
Shortly after its creation in 2017, NYU IT’s Research Technology (RT) unit initiated a service definition project to develop recommendations for supporting its ambitious service portfolio growth and to enhance its brand and communications.
One of the key suggestions from this activity was the creation of a cohesive web presence to serve as a single web entry. The Research Technology team partnered closely with both the IT Communications group and the Digital Communications team to create Navigating Research Technology. After six months of rigorous planning, designing, and testing, this website was officially launched in October 2018.
Below is a brief description of the key sections of the new website.
Success Stories
This top section gathers a unique set of user stories so that visitors can easily understand Research Technology service offerings and their value. A few recent examples include LaGuardia Studio’s work with NYU Langone Health on a face transplant and Data Services’ DH + Data Day.
Research Life Cycle
This middle section summarizes the five phases of the research life cycle. Each phase is broken down into the relevant RT services that are available to assist with each step. Finally, each service is linked directly to its own individual service page containing unique details about the service; e.g. who is eligible, how to request, where to get additional support, etc.
Faculty Advisory Board (FAB)
This sub-page provides background on the main governance body for Research Technology, the Faculty Advisory Board (FAB). It describes the FAB’s purpose, objectives, and well-rounded membership.
Research Technology’s mission is to empower scholars to propel research in their fields and transform the world. By facilitating the navigation and delivery of its services, this new website aims to fulfill that purpose. It will continue to expand as more RT services transition from the pipeline into production.
