As part of NYU IT’s commitment to protect your information and systems, the NYU Virtual Private Network (VPN) service was updated October 5 to provide a more secure connection to the NYU network (NYU-NET). This includes the mandatory use of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) when logging into vpn.nyu.edu and a new “All Traffic” option in the “Group” field. The use of VPN protects your computer while on potentially unsecured networks (e.g., airports and hotels) by creating a secure connection for trusted computers and not allowing connections from other users or computers while the VPN is active. Please note, these changes currently only impact community members using the vpn.nyu.edu and vpnsec.nyu.edu VPN servers, not the global-specific servers (vpn.london.nyu.edu, etc.).
For more information, see NYU VPN: Changes to vpn.nyu.edu and vcnsec.nyu.edu on October 5, 2018 in the NYU IT ServiceLink knowledge base.
