As part of its ongoing mission to remain at the cutting edge of high performance computing (HPC) and provide the best resources for researchers whose projects require HPC services, NYU IT’s HPC group, part of Research Technology, has recently undertaken significant expansion of its offerings. In particular, the HPC group is building a foundation to meet increasing demand to support AI research.
- 128 new graphics processing units (GPUs), including NVIDIA Tesla P40 and P100 accelerators, have been added to the Prince cluster.
- An additional 200 GPUs are planned for the near future, as well as a system that will prioritize AI-related research requiring HPC cluster resources.
- A new HPC Archive data storage system has also been launched.
- New course-specific training sessions and consultation appointments have been added to the HPC training offerings
