Dr. Yolonda Wilson

“Is ‘Structural Racism’ a Cop-Out?”
In this talk, I conceptualize structural racism as a framework for understanding racial injustice. I argue that while structural racism provides an important explanation of how racism manifests, some individuals and institutions may use the seemingly unwieldy nature of structural racism to seek cover from the moral obligations to ameliorate racism. I offer an account of moral obligation that attempts to remove the cover that they seek.

The Annual Symposium will be in-person.
