Pandemics: History, Ethics, and Policy
This course will consider the ethical issues surrounding vaccination seen through the lens of history, with an emphasis on COVID-19. Topics will include a history of vaccines; the ethics surrounding their research, development, and distribution; vaccine hesitancy and strategies for confronting it; vaccine nationalism and global distribution; the extraordinary public/private vaccine partnership known as Operation Warp Speed; and the new vaccine technologies that are revolutionizing the field.
