Mission Statement

This summer, I will work with Each One Teach One e.V. in Berlin, Germany. Once a library and community space, EOTO has evolved into a non-profit organization that uses history, literature, and community gatherings to empower Black Europeans whose histories were sidelined because of nationalistic policies.

In addition to supporting EOTO day-to-day tasks and longterm projects, I am conducting my own research. I am interested in the intersection of colonial history, toponymy, and policy around the renaming streets. My research is grounded in the work being done by activists in the Afrikanisches Viertel who insist that streets in the neighborhood should be renamed to honor African freedom fighters instead of honoring Germany’s former colonies and colonists.
