September 18-24th marks Climate Week NYC where dozens of fun and informative events are held around the city to celebrate all things sustainable. If you’re too busy to scroll the the long list, I gathered some of the events to check out.
Concert for a Sustainable Planet. The concert will future music from Beethoven’s Eroica and from contemporary composers like Yo-Yo Ma, Ronen Shapira and Merlijn Twaalfhoven. Monday, September 18. Carnegie Hall, 7-9:30 p.m.
Fear and Hope in the Climate Conversation. The Climate Museum presents a panel discussion about how we can overcome the fear and focus on hope when it comes to talking about climate change. Tuesday, September 19. 800 3rd Avenue 18th floor. 3-5 p.m.
Taking on Tillerson: Sunrise Movement Fall 2017 Kick-Off Party. Students and young adults living in the city are encouraged to attend an event to create action against an administration opposed to climate action. Tuesday, September 19. Project REACH 39 Eldridge St. 4th floor. 7:30-10 p.m.
Ecosessions: Fashion X Climate. Fashion industry leaders discuss what the third largest global industry to doing to decrease climate damage. Wednesday, September 20. Neuehouse 110 25st Penthouse. 8:15-10 a.m.
Lower East Ride Bike Ride. Take a bike ride in the East village to visit community gardens, a proposed microgrid and historic green infrastructure. East 10th Street at the bike station by Tompkins Sq Park. Wednesday, September 20. 5:30-8:30 p.m.
TEDGlobal NYC. The famous TED talks are coming to NYC with a mission to inspire new thinking about climate issues. The Town Hall Theater. Wednesday, September 20, 123 W 43rd St. 7-9 p.m.
We’ll Always Have Paris…Right? NYU environmental studies department brainstorms the next action after the Trump Administration pulled out of the Paris Agreement. Vanderbilt Hall rm 214 40 Washington Square South.Thursday, September 21. 6-7:30 p.m.
Coastal Clean Up and Data Collection. Grab a friend and help clean up debris from the shoreline. Manhattan Beach Oriental blvd, Brooklyn, NY. 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
People’s Climate Music. Incredible artists gather to bolster the climate movement through culture. The New School, Tishman Auditorium, 63 5th Ave. Sunday, September 24. 4 p.m.
