EcoReps Spotlight: Adriana Moreno

Here’s what Adriana had to say about being an EcoRep!

What does being an EcoRep mean to you: I have the opportunity to help make NYU an overall more sustainable campus.

Best memory of EcoReps: For Zero Waste Week I collected all the non-recyclable, non-compostable waste I used in a week and carried it around in a bag. I learned a lot about myself and my habits through that experience.

Advice for current students who want to get involved in sustainability: Check out the NYU Sustainability page! That’s where I learned about the EcoReps and Earth Matters club. There is also so much information there about upcoming lectures, films, and other events related to sustainability.

Who’s your “Eco-hero”: My eco-hero is Julia Butterfly Hill because of her extraordinary efforts to protect the redwoods. Hill lived in a tree named Luna for almost two years to stop the Pacific Lumber Company from cutting it and the other redwoods near it down.
