Description
Regulation of chromosome segregation
Precise chromosome segregation is essential for genetic stability of eukaryotic cells and sophisticated mechanisms have been developed to guard the integrity of this process. Since deregulation of this process leads to aneuploidy which is the common cause of birth defects and tumorigenesis, understanding the molecular mechanism of chromosome segregation is critical for the therapeutic intervention of these diseases. Our lab is studying the fundamental questions of chromosome segregation and its deregulation in cancer.
