Registration for Steinhardt Global courses is a separate step in the study abroad on-boarding process and must be done through NYU Albert. You do not need a permission code to register for any of our graduate short-term study abroad courses.
Preparing to Register
It is your responsibility to self-register for your study abroad course. The course registration period for our January, Spring Break, and Summer study abroad programs follow the NYU Academic Calendar for their respective terms.
Before registering for your study abroad course, we recommend that you follow the below steps to ensure that you are cleared for registration:
- Meet with your academic advisor to discuss your registration for the coming term
- Check your enrollment appointment day and time. This can be found within the Albert Academics Tab
- Check for registration holds in your Albert Student Center. If you have a past due balance, contact the Bursar’s Office
- Confirm your contact information in Albert
You can visit this page for further details on each of the above steps in preparing to register for your study abroad course.
Step-by-Step Registration Guide
Below are instructions on how to locate your study abroad course in Albert:
- Log into NYU Home by entering your NYU NetID and password.
- From the NYU Home welcome page, click the “Academics” tab, then search for the Albert card and press GO.
Albert Welcome Screen
From the Albert welcome screen, select the tab for the term in which you are going to enroll, then click on “Course Search” located at the bottom left-hand corner of the section.
In the “Class Nbr” search box (the section on the right), enter the 4 or 5-digit class number associated with your study abroad course, as advertised on your program page, then click “Enter”.
Note: The correct course sections will not appear if you use the “Class Search” feature on the left side of the page.
When you get to the Class Preference screen, double-check the details to make sure you are registering for the correct class section and units/credits. Remember, our study abroad courses are either section “095” if it’s a January or Spring program, or “099” for summer programs. If everything looks good, click the NEXT button.
The selected study abroad course will be added to your cart until your designated registration time slot, at which you can proceed to step 2 and 3 to complete your registration for your study away course.
