OPUS WRITER POSITIONS

Senior Staff Writers:

Senior Staff Writers publish one article for each OPUS issue. Senior Staff Writers can also opt to publish a completed literature review or research paper for one of the issues – the second piece, however, must be original. Senior Staff Writers must have already completed Seminar I when beginning their tenure as Senior Staff Writers. In the Spring semester, Senior Staff Writers can be chosen to advance as Editors-in-Training by reviewing and editing pieces written by Junior Staff Writers.

Junior Staff Writers:

Junior Staff Writers work on one piece throughout the Fall and Spring semesters to be published in the Spring Edition of OPUS. Junior Staff Writers may choose from the following options:

  1. A literature review, under the guidance of a core staff member with similar research interests, who will facilitate and support the ability to formulate a conceptually sound research question, evaluate the research literature with a critical eye, and complete a publication-level APA-style article. Junior Staff Writers who choose to focus on a literature review often graduate to Senior Staff Writers after a year with OPUS.
  2. A book review, film critique, OR interview with prominent researchers or clinicians in the field of psychology.

Contributing Writers:

Contributing Writers work closely with an editor over the course of one semester to prepare an already-written paper for publication. Contributors submit a completed literature review or research paper from either Seminar I, Seminar II, Research Methods II, or any other relevant course in Psychology. The paper must be written in APA format, and must be submitted as a Microsoft Word document. Contributors subsequently work with the editors-in-chief to revise their work for publication.
