UNIT 1: RISOGRAPH ANIMATION
Preparation:
- Come to class with a short animation or video that you want to turn into a riso animation.
- You will need photoshop installed on your computer.
Introduction to Risograph Printing basics
- Intro to riso printing
- Color and color separation
- Intro to project 1 – riso animation
Homework for next week:
- Sign up the discord and to this website.
- Do a Riso lab training session. Book it here.
- Ensure you have photoshop installed on your machine in time for class next week. Adobe access is available to declared IDM majors (you should have received an email about this from our tech director Elton Kwok). If you are not an IDM student, adobe is available in NYU computer labs, or you can obtain a license for a personal machine at a discounted student rate of $20/month
- Printing:
- Print and scan your animation file for class next week.
- Reading/viewing.
- Read page p1-24 in the Risotto guide to riso printing.

Week 2, November 2nd

UNIT 2: GENERATIVITY and PATTERN

Nov 19th – Field trip – Brooklyn Museum
- Visit the exhibition “Copy Machine Manifestos: Artists Who Make Zines” at the Brooklyn Museum.
