Is the tendency for people of a particular religion, race, social background, etc., to form exclusive political alliances, moving away from traditional broad-based party politics.
How a person identifies themselves in detail could make a political statement.
For example identifying myself as Khalifa from Abu dhabi might be political, but if i go into further details and present myself as Khalifa Sultan, a Muslim Emiraty that studies american politics will make a totally different statement.
In general, the way someone identifies himself/herself in detail can change how people perceive them.

Hi Khalifa–
Great post! Now can you start illustrating the concept of identity politics as it appears or is worked out in some one pop cultural form (music video, film clip, drama, any other pop culture artifact)–that we have discussed so far in our course? Or some pop cultural form within Emirati culture that you want to bring to our attention and which is illustrative or which investigates your own definition/s of “identity politics”?
