As in previous years, the “4th Joint UAE Symposium on Social Robotics“ (JSSR2019) will be organized by faculty from NYUAD, United Arab Emirates University, and Bielefeld University, Germany. This year, the program will feature an address from His Excellency Omar Bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, UAE, a public lecture (Kirsten Dautenhahn, University of Hertfordshire)an eminent robotics for autism researcher, renowned local, regional, international keynote speakers, presentations from submitted papers, exhibitions and demonstrations, lab and campus tours, and a student competition in social robotics. In 2018, the issued Call for Papers (CfP) attracted several researchers from the GCC and other countries. In order to attract even more participation, we will strive to publish accepted papers in prestigious scholastic publishing organizations such as IEEE or Springer Publishing. Papers will be reviewed and selected by a committee of expert reviewers. To broaden our scope, we will disseminate the CfP in scientific discussion lists, social media, and through mailinglists to target multidisciplinary scholars from GCC, Europe, US and Asia. A peer-review process will be installed to guide the selection process, and to assure top-quality submissions. Junior (e.g., PhD students and Post-docs) and senior scholars can contribute to the scientific program by presenting papers, talks or posters. We expect approximately 70 participants including invited researchers. The event will be open to students and faculty from NYUAD and UAEU, involving the respective programs in engineering, computer science, cognitive, behavioural & brain sciences, psychology, sociology, and philosophy. Students are particularly encouraged to present their work on social robotics during a poster session.
