Collapse: Climate, Cities & Culture
June 13 -30, 2018
GLOBAL DESIGN NYU (GDNYU) launches COLLAPSE: CLIMATE, CITIES & CULTURE, an exhibition open to the public that focuses on the design community’s response to environmental extremes, using architectural models, design prototypes, drawings, and videos to propose future scenarios to improve the health and well-being for our fragile planet and all of its occupants.
About GLOBAL DESIGN NYU
Since its inception GLOBAL DESIGN NYU (GDNYU), which was founded by professors Peder Anker, Louise Harpman, and Mitchell Joachim, has created exhibits and symposia that showcase leading-edge, environmentally-oriented design practices from around the world. GDNYU’s previous exhibitions, Elsewhere Envisioned, took place in New York and London, attracting significant notice in the professional and popular press. Writing in Architect’s Newspaper, Julie Iovine described the GDNYU offerings as “marvelous” and an “all-too-rare look at assorted contemporary efforts.” Anker, Harpman, and Joachim are the authors of Global Design (Prestel, 2014), a book that examines design solutions in relation to climate change.
