Bai women are devoted to their family. They are stronger and more hard-working than the men. In some extreme cases, the man does nothing and smokes, where the woman does all the hard work including cooking, caring for children and the elderly, and housekeeping works. It is unfortunate that, even though the women demonstrate outstanding ability, it was the men who get education and learn the rules to rise above. The men, consequently, are overly represented in high places in institutions and the local government. This picture demonstrates the resilience of a typical Bai woman, who takes care of the child while sorting the Jiama paper to get them ready for business.
