ARTIST STATEMENT:
Un Sueño Eterno came to life as a result of a journey toward healing. It is a compilation of multiple poems written about living in the diaspora throughout the course of eight years. In a constant search for belonging, living between Puerto Rico and New York City; always comparing both places. It follows the journey of a young adult trying to understand what it means to immerse yourself in another culture, language, and lifestyle, while trying to remain present in a reality that is not necessarily the one you intended to have. She follows a path toward the constant search for happiness, finding it mostly in other places and with other people. After constantly comparing both lives—two separate, distinct, and irreversibly different lifestyles—but still trying to recreate that life she left behind and mold it into the adult reality she is now living, she realizes home is where you are at peace with yourself.
