Ride Or? (Song)
STATEMENT:
My song, “Ride Or?”, explores themes of self-reflection, recognition, and metamorphosis. Imagine life as a ride or journey: we pass mountains, coastlines, and bridges in search of harmony and inner peace. Amidst the uncertainties, what remains true is that time moves forward and we just keep riding on. This is the first single from my upcoming album that will be released later this year.
ARTIST BIO:
Haotian (Vic) Wang is an independent artist and producer from Yunnan, China, currently based in New York. With a Hani ethnic minority background and travel experiences across different continents, he sees the world’s natural/urban landscape and culture from both temporal and spatial perspectives. At NYU Gallatin, he became interested in both music creating and humanities (ethnomusicology), which became two essential parts of his concentration. While exploring global music cultures in his compositions, he hopes to create an immersive audiovisual experience. His songs incorporate samples and soundscapes that are spatial, versatile, and imaginative, which include but are not limited to genres like indie folk, ambient, and electronica. In 2021, he released an instrumental project called Outer Space; Inner Space which explores the relationship between music and nature. His latest single “Ride Or? (feat. Yaojiu19)” focuses on ambient and indie-folk-inspired songwriting. Stay tuned for his new music and an upcoming album in 2022.
