ARTIST STATEMENT:
“Marfa People is an animated music video inspired by the architecture and landscape of Marfa, Texas. Spaces I find myself in often have a great effect on my overall mood. I have felt particularly peaceful surrounded by landscapes and architecture that are imbued with a sense of order and precision. The music was created to be cohesive with the film’s tone, timing, and camera movements. These qualities in music can create the same soothing effect. I made this film through a desire to create spaces and sounds where one can be present in their surroundings and free from the clutter of modern life.”
BIO:
Originally from Houston, Will Kallmeyer is a visual artist and musician. He draws inspiration from the music and natural landscape of his home state. Will is currently a junior at Gallatin pursuing a concentration in the Architecture and Music of Film. His other works can be found on Instagram @poachedcarbon or on his website.
