ARTIST STATEMENT:

All I care about is making people laugh, so much so that I can be a bit obsessive about it at times. In any project, task, or just everyday conversation, I feel as if I can only really contribute to it if I say something unexpected. It feels like I’ve trained my brain to think in jokes and punchlines, and I think that that is my greatest accomplishment. I am aware that this constant jest-speak has to be incredibly irritating for others to endure for more than a minute, but I like to think that if I can make them smile at least like twice, it is more than worth it. I think this tone really shows in a lot of the weird shit I make, whether it’s a plaster moth covered in my own hair, or an entire dining room scene covered in popcorn ceiling texture. The idea to create things in unusual mediums like these has became so obvious to me, like my brain generates a random combination of adjectives and nouns and then I feel a bizarre compulsion to turn these things into physical entities so other people can see into my brain through little portholes like in a tiny submarine. I hope my jokes are stupid and funny, and I hope they look like me.”
