Tomie Arai is public artist who lives and works in NYC. She has designed both temporary and permanent public works of art for Creative Time, the US General Services Administration Art in Architecture Program, the NYC PerCent for Art Program, the Cambridge Arts Council, the MTA Arts for Transit Program, the New York City Board of Education and the San Francisco Arts Commission.

Land Acknowledgement The Gallatin Galleries is located on the traditional territory of the Lenni-Lenape, called “Lenapehoking.” The Lenape People lived in this territory in harmony for thousands of years. During the colonial era and early federal period, many were removed, but some also remain among the historical tribal communities of the region. We acknowledge the Lenni-Lenape as the original people of this land and their continuing relationship with their territory and we affirm the aspiration of the Lenape Chief Tamanend, that there be harmony between the Indigenous people of this land and the descendants of the immigrants to this land.
