Embrace

Embrace is a multimedia performance that combines movement and projections to explore intimacy and connection. The omnidisciplinary presentation shows bodies moving in and out of the self, the other, and the space by overlaying digitized and manipulated movement content onto the raw, physical body. What does it mean to feel intimately connected to the shells of another body? How can choreography communicate across temporalities and through varying channels? The audience’s connection is as much an integral element as that of the performers.

Olivia Kick, originally from the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts, is a sophomore at Gallatin studying decolonial movement healing and minoring in psychology. Olivia has been dancing for 12 years and has most recently been focusing on postmodern dance and her own choreography. Passionate about learning the ways in which systems of oppression affect individual and collective bodies, Olivia believes movement has the power to aid in healing and decolonization work by connecting people to their truest selves, one another, and the natural world.

Micah Dominguez-Schatz is a third-year Gallatin student from Toronto, Canada, whose concentration is called Frequency and Perception: Light and Sound. Micah is also pursuing a minor in Spanish Language. Micah’s technical credits include: L’Orfeo – Santa Fe Opera, Gucci WHS Campaign, Ulla Johnson AW ‘24. Lighting Design credits: ETW Indies, DCA Fall ‘23.
