ARTIST STATEMENT:

Knock Knock is a partial adaptation of a short story heavily inspired by the filmmaker’s experiences with sleep paralysis and the delirium it induces.

Sam Smith is a senior at NYU Gallatin studying narrative and fashion through the lens of imitative practices.

Land Acknowledgement The Gallatin Galleries is located on the traditional territory of the Lenni-Lenape, called “Lenapehoking.” The Lenape People lived in this territory in harmony for thousands of years. During the colonial era and early federal period, many were removed, but some also remain among the historical tribal communities of the region. We acknowledge the Lenni-Lenape as the original people of this land and their continuing relationship with their territory and we affirm the aspiration of the Lenape Chief Tamanend, that there be harmony between the Indigenous people of this land and the descendants of the immigrants to this land.
