ARTIST STATEMENT:
In Debra, a group of neighbors look forward to celebrating an elderly woman’s 96th birthday. This short film was written for Keith Miller’s From Script to Screen class in fall 2022. Special thanks to Meagan Wachtel.

BIO:
Ally Szema (they/them) is a junior at NYU Gallatin studying storytelling. They hope to work as an information assistant at the New York Public Library after graduating in 2024. You can find more information on their website: https://allisonszema.carbonmade.com.
Meagan Wachtel is a Cuban American multidisciplinary filmmaker with specialties in directing, cinematography, animation, and styling. She’s a BFA candidate at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, studying Film and Television. They’re currently based in New York City and New Jersey, but their work has allowed them to travel domestically (Massachusetts and California) and internationally (Paris and Havana). When she’s not filmmaking, she loves figure drawing, reading manga, giving astrological readings, and shooting on her 2013 Canon power shot.
