ARTIST STATEMENT

Better Be is the story of a spiraling housewife convinced by her foul-mouthed, animated refrigerator to murder her husband.

BIO

Reilly Rose Schombs

Reilly Rose is studying The Ethics and Aesthetics of Filmmaking: Comedy, Horror, and Documentary at Gallatin. Better Be is her narrative short film debut. Her recent documentary work includes three-time festival award winner Bodhi-Sativa (2022) (directed by Bridget LeRoy) as second assistant camera and Making Maple (2022) as director/cinematographer/editor, which premiered on Vermont Public television in March 2023. Rose debuted on camera in her first feature as the title role in the indie film, New York International Film Awards winner for Best Romance, Lily Darling (2022). In her spare time, she performs with Bechdel Test, NYU’s all female sketch and improv comedy troupe, and writes original music. She is an undefeated backgammon player, a cool older sister, and lover of people and life!
