About Strings Without Boundaries
Julie Lyonn Lieberman started Strings Without Boundaries in 2003, where it ran as a summer program at Duquesne University for ten years before she began to move it to other cities throughout the country. The program has always focused on training players in numerous roots as well as contemporary styles while incorporating creative musicianship and playing electric.
The program has taken place in Seattle as well as Ellensburgh WA, Appleton WI, Omaha NE, and Savannah as well as Atlanta GA. It has taken place in Easthampton, MA the last two summers and will now begin to expand to New York City.
This past year, Julie Lyonn Lieberman—its creator and Artistic Director, who lives in MA—has taken on a partner, Alissa Jackman… Program Director, who lives in Brooklyn. We are going to start building our presence in NYC starting spring 2026, with a one-day event.
